National Aged Care Roundtable, 1 June 2027, National Press Club, Canberra or national LIVE Stream

About this event

Every Federal Budget is a statement of national priorities, and for aged care, the question is never just how much was funded, but what that funding says about where the sector truly sits in the nation’s plans.

The National Aged Care Roundtable brings providers, policymakers, financial analysts and peak bodies to the National Press Club, Canberra, to take stock of that answer: what the Budget reveals, how reform is actually living up to its design a year on, and what the sector must become, not just fund, to meet the Australia that’s ageing around it.

The Roundtable will also be broadcasted via a national livestream, so sector leaders across every state and territory can be part of the conversation, wherever they’re based.

The day unfolds across three panels, each asking a broader question than the last: The Budget Verdict considers what this Budget says about where aged care sits among the nation’s priorities; Aged Care Reforms in Practice asks whether a year into the biggest overhaul in a generation, the system is truly becoming what it was designed to be; and the Future of Aged Care looks past the next funding cycle entirely, to what the sector must build to keep pace with a country ageing faster than its care system is evolving.

This Roundtable follows directly from the Aged Care Sustainability Breakfast held in Perth in November 2026, where the sector set out its case ahead of the Budget. This is where we return to test it against the outcome.

Can’t make it to Canberra? The Roundtable will be broadcast via a national livestream, so sector leaders across every state and territory can watch all three panels live, wherever they’re based.

Panel 1 — The Federal Budget Verdict

Guiding question: Every Federal Budget is a statement of what a government believes matters most, so what does this one say about where aged care really sits on our nation’s priorities, and is that where it needs to be?

Panel 2 — Aged Care Reforms in Practice

Guiding question: Reform only means something once it’s lived, not legislated, so a year into the biggest overhaul in a generation, is the system actually becoming what it was designed to be?

Panel 3 — The Future of Aged Care

Guiding question: Australia is ageing faster than its aged care system is evolving, so what does the sector need to become, not just fund, to be ready for the country it will need to serve?

Who should attend

Aged care providers, financial and policy analysts, peak body representatives, and state and federal government stakeholders working on aged care funding and reform.
