Hon Fiona Simpson is a senior Queensland politician who serves as Minister for Women and Women’s Economic Security, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, and Minister for Multiculturalism. She represents the electorate of Maroochydore for the Liberal National Party. With over three decades of public service, she is one of Queensland’s longest-serving members of Parliament.
In her current roles, Fiona Simpson leads initiatives to improve women’s economic security and workforce participation across Queensland. Moreover, she oversees government engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. She also supports programs that promote multiculturalism throughout the state. Notably, she was Queensland’s first female Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, serving from 2012 to 2015. Prior to politics, she was an award-winning journalist and held various leadership positions in community sectors.
