Professor Beazley, a renowned neuroscientist and educator, has dedicated over thirty years to researching vision and brain recovery. Her work has directly influenced clinical practices for caring for premature infants. Additionally, she actively promotes science education and engagement, especially for young people and women in STEM across Western Australia.

During her distinguished career, Professor Beazley served as Western Australia’s Chief Scientist from 2006 to 2013. She advised the State Government on science, innovation, and technology while shaping key policies and improving science education initiatives. She earned the title Officer of the Order of Australia and became a Fellow of both the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering. Furthermore, in 2015, she received the West Australian of the Year award for her outstanding contributions to neuroscience, public policy, and community outreach.
