Dr Hilda Turnbull practised medicine before politics. In 1989, she entered the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. She represented Collie for the National Party. Additionally, she became the first woman from her party in that chamber. Thus, she advanced women in regional politics.

Dr Turnbull served from 1989 to 2001. She championed health issues. Furthermore, she addressed community needs. For example, she left a strong mark on Collie. Today, people recognise her trailblazing role. She opened doors for women leaders.
