About Asha Bhat OAM
Asha Bhat OAM leads SAC, a non-profit organisation in Western Australia serving Noongar people across the Great Southern, South West, Wheatbelt, and Perth regions. Originally from Bangalore, India, she migrated to Australia in 2004 and joined SAC in 2008 as a finance and HR manager, rising to CEO in 2013. Under her leadership, SAC has achieved stability and growth, delivering vital programs on family violence, housing, emergency relief, and cultural initiatives.
Her impressive qualifications include an MBA, master’s and bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and accounting, CPA associate status, and AICD membership. In 2022, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the Indigenous community, alongside honours such as 2017 Albany Citizen of the Year and induction into the 2023 WA Women’s Hall of Fame.
