Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, will grace the QLD International Women’s Day Parliamentary Breakfast 2026 as our distinguished keynote speaker.

Early Life and Career
Dr Jeannette Young was born in Sydney in 1963. She grew up as the eldest daughter of Dr David Young and Mrs Lilly Young. After graduating in Medicine from the University of Sydney in 1986, she started at Westmead Hospital.
There, she married and welcomed daughter Rebecca. Next, she shifted to medical management. She earned a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie University.
Leadership Achievements
In August 2005, Queensland appointed her Chief Health Officer. She led public health, preventative agendas, and emergencies. Notably, in 2020, she served as State Health Incident Controller during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She holds fellowships from the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and the Faculty of Public Health, Royal College of Physicians (UK). Additionally, she earned honorary doctorates from Griffith University and Queensland University of Technology, plus the Australia Day Achievement Medallion and Public Service Medal. In 2022, Australia named her Companion of the Order of Australia.
Governor Role
Sworn in as Queensland’s 27th Governor on 1 November 2021, she serves with dedication.
