We are delighted to announce Dr Emilia Dauway MD, FACS, FRACS as a featured speaker at the upcoming QLD International Women’s Day – Parliamentary Breakfast Event 2026.

As Director of General Surgery at QEII Jubilee Hospital in Brisbane, she embodies pioneering spirit. Her career highlights women’s impact in healthcare.
Dr Dauway served as Chief of Breast Surgery. She also directed the Breast Cancer Program at Baylor Scott & White Healthcare in Texas, USA. Now, she practises general and oncologic surgery in Australia. For instance, she brings expertise to regional communities. Additionally, she belongs to Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand. She also joins the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Thus, she excels in breast disease treatment. Her focus includes breast cancer tumour biology. Moreover, she specialises in oncoplastic surgery.
Dr Dauway co-invented the radioactive seed procedure. It localises non-palpable breast lesions. The University of South Florida patented it in 2000. Furthermore, she authored scientific articles on breast cancer. She pioneered novel techniques too. For example, she introduced the Magseed localisation procedure first in Australia. Therefore, her work improves breast care everywhere. It ensures access regardless of location.
