Today we have Gina Price, who discusses her living in a country town, particularly one like Kalgoorlie, with its unique blend of challenges and rewards. Coming from a small town in New Zealand, she found the transition to a similar-sized community in Western Australia to be familiar and welcoming. However, living and working in a regional area does come with its own set of obstacles, especially when it comes to critical care and allied health services.

In her role as an NDIS coordinator for the past three and a half years, She has gained a deeper understanding of the complexities and dynamics of the disability sector in regional communities. Kalgoorlie, like many regional towns, faces significant challenges, particularly in maintaining quality services across the allied health, mental health, and social service sectors. The evolution of these services has been marked by ups and downs over the years, and with recent changes to NDIS legislation, it’s become even tougher.

It’s not always easy, and the recent legislative changes have made things even more challenging. But despite the obstacles, we’re determined to keep moving forward, supporting one another, and providing the best possible care to our community.
