Announcing Emily Edgar as a Speaker at Our International Women’s Day Breakfast Roundtable

We are delighted to announce that Emily Edgar, a passionate disability rights advocate and accomplished law and commerce graduate, will be joining us as a speaker at our Leaders with Purpose – International Women’s Day Breakfast Roundtable on 5th March

Emily’s journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the pursuit of equity. A graduate of WA’s Notre Dame University, Emily holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws, credentials that reflect her commitment to excellence and her ability to overcome significant challenges. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and using a wheelchair for most of her life, Emily has faced various forms of discrimination, including barriers to long-term sustainable employment.

Despite these obstacles, Emily has channeled her lived experiences into a passion for Disability Human Rights Policy and Regulation. Her goal is to foster greater understanding and create a society where disability-based discrimination in employment and other areas is a thing of the past.

Emily’s contributions extend beyond her academic and professional achievements. In 2015, she was invited by the then Vice-Chancellor of Notre Dame, Professor Celia Hammond, to serve as a key member of the University’s Disability Working Party. Her insights helped shape more inclusive policies and practices, particularly in the areas of physical and academic accessibility.

In March 2023, Emily celebrated a milestone by starting as a part-time Paralegal Clerk at a prominent WA law firm, a role she excelled in until its conclusion in March 2024. Since then, Emily has continued to advocate for inclusivity and accessibility, volunteering as a Policy & Administrative Officer at a not-for-profit disability organisation while seeking new paid opportunities in the legal field.
