The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s recent paper, Care and Support Economy – State of Play, lays the foundation for a transformative approach to one of Australia’s most vital sectors. This report is a call to action for improving the delivery, accessibility, and sustainability of care and support services, which encompass aged care, disability support, veterans’ care, and early childhood education and care (ECEC).
The care and support economy is not only one of Australia’s largest industries but also one of its fastest-growing, employing a significant proportion of the national workforce. These challenges present opportunities to reimagine the sector, with government and stakeholders working together to deliver high-impact reforms.
